December 2008
Colour Belt Grading
The final colour belt grading took place at Inverkeithing on Tuesday 18 December. Well done to Brenda Walker, Fraser Barratt, Stuart Ballantine, Melanie Dover, Ian Penman, Chris O'Malley, John Davies and Cameron Kellow who all succsessfully passed their gradings.
November 2007
ASC Christmas Dance
Mr Cunningham's Annual Christmas Night Out took place at Pettycur Bay on Friday 30 November. As per previous years the 'Students of the Year' were announced for all of the clubs. This year's winner for the Bannatynes Club was Stuart Ballantine who was recognised for his commitment following a return from injury. Paul Gowens was also recognised by Mr Cunningham and presented with overall colour belt of the year.
Irish Open Championships, Cork
Mr Purves, and two of his students from the Bannatynes Club were part of the GTF Scotland group who attended the Irish Open Championships in Cork hosted by the ITF. The tournament saw competitors from all over the world. Mr Purves won silver for 4th Degree Male Patterns and a Bronze in the light heavyweigt male sparring. Mr Chalmers also won silver for 1st Degree Male Patterns.
Black Belt Grading
The second black belt grading of the year took place in Kinghorn on Sunday 4 November. well done to Mr Miller who passed his 1.2, Mr Whitelaw who passed his 1.1 and Mr Chalmers who confirmed to 1st Degree Black Belt.

Breakathon Tournament
Mr Cunningham's annual destruction competition took place on Saturday 20 October. Well done to Melanie Dover who took 4th place in the junior section. For the adults Paul Gowens took 5th place with our very own Stuart Ballantine taking Gold position.
Black Belt Seminar
The Black Belt Seminar took place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 Ocotober covering senior grade patterns and techniques. Congratulations to Mr Purves who confirmed to 4th Degree at the Seminar and Louise Purves who confirmed to 1st Degree.

19th GTF Scotland Scottish Championships
The 19th GTF (Scotland) Scottish Championships were held at Grangemouth Sports Complex on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September. Across the two days we had a total of 11 competitiors and 13 trophies including 6 Scottish titles. It was an action packed two days with the Black Belts on the Saturday including a junior team competition, then a full day of Colour Belts on the Sunday ranging from 6 years olds up to the adult and veteran competitors.
Colour Belt Grading
Yet another successful grading took place at Inverkeithing High School on Thursday 27 September. Congratulations to Paul Gowens, Stuart Ballantine, Chris O'Malley, Calum Robertson and Steven Fisher who were all promoted to their next belt.
ASC Competition - Kirkcaldy
Stuart Ballantine and Melanie Dover took part with Melanie winning three Bronze medals and Stuart winning another gold for sparring.

Black Belt League
The third and final Black Belt League of the year took place in Burntisland with all of our Black Belts taking part; Mr Purves, Kevin Whitelaw, Andrew Miller, Louise Purves and Douglas Chalmers. After the three competitions, the wait is on to find out our placings at the end of the year at the Black Belt League Awards Dinner.

Black Belt League
The second Black Belt League took place in Kirkcaldy with Kevin Whitelaw and Louise Purves taking part. They both did us proud with Kevin still going strong in the sparring and Louise winning all her patterns having only passed her black belt 4 weeks previously!
ASC Competition - Cupar
Stuart Ballantyne gave a strong performance taking gold medals in both sparring and destruction. Well done!

First Aid Course
Our very own Paul Gowens held the second GTF Scotland First Aid course. This is now part of the national instructors course and to date has trained almost 40 instructors and students across the country. A second course is pencilled in for later this year, so let your instructor know if you are interested.
Black Belt Grading
The first black belt grading of the year took place in Bo'Ness. The day started with Louise Purves attending the red belt seminar who went on to sit and pass her 1st Degree grading. David Winton also confirmed to 1st Degree. After a very long day Mr Purves also successfully passed his 4th Degree!
Colour Belt Grading
After what has been a busy 3 months, it was time for the second colour belt grading. As always you did us proud with the usual high standard and it was great to see a couple familiar faces returning from injury.

ASC Competition - Markinch
The third colour belt competition of the year took place at Markinch with Brenda Walker taking yet another gold for patterns and gold for ladies hand destruction. Chris O'Malley did extremely well at his first competition with 3 gold medals and 1 silver.
Referee Course
The referee courses took place with even more of our students going through their Level 1 and Level 2 courses.
March 2007
The Gathering
The annual Gathering took place in Burntisland. Louise Bathgate took Bronze for the ladies, with Paul taking Gold for the veteran males. Also well done to Ian Penman who came a very respectable 4th for veteran males.
Colour Belt Grading
Another successful grading with passes all round.
2007 European Championships in Greece
The 2007 European Championships and Coloured Belt Festival were held in Greece. The Scottish Male team had a fantastic medal haul taking Gold for Team Patterns and Team Destruction and Silver for Team Sparring and Team Specialist. In addition to this Mr Purves also took silver for 3rd Degree Patterns and Bronze for Heavy Weight Sparring. Along with Mr Purves were Scott Baillie, Louise Bathgate and Brenda Walker. The colour belts also did well with Louise taking silver for high grade ladies patterns and Brenda taking Gold for low grade ladies patterns and a bronze for low grade ladies sparring.

Black Belt League
The first Black Belt League took place in Falkirk, with Mr Purves, Kevin Whitelaw & David Winton all taking part. The veterans did us proud with Kevin and David at the top of their sparring league!
Fundraising
A group of students from Bannatynes and Inverkeithing High School, accompanied by Mr Scott took part in a bag pack at ASDA at Halbeath to raise club funds and help those students going to Greece. After 6 hours and a lot of sore feet they raised a massive £750. Thank you to all who took part. Also thanks to The Carnegie Trust who also made a donation.

The Annual Black Belt League Awards dinner took place at Pettycur Bay. Where Mr Purves and Kevin Whitelaw all received medals from competing in the 2006 Black Belt Leagues.
